Are there any specific criteria for attaining the ranks of Master, Teacher, etc? Or is it at staff discretion?

Master is soon to change to General

Criteria then is sort of self explanatory.
Teachers are those who are appointed by the leader of nation to train new benders/ non benders
Generals are those who the leaders allow commands over parts of the army/fleet.

Most of the other ones are for Staff.

White Lotas Grandmaster is something earned amongst those in the white lotas.

Do you really need a certain amount of points/posts to RP a White Lotas character or just to get that written as your status? Also, might I ask what an White Lotas can do? If it's simply the secret organization from the series, can I be one?

edit: Can you also change my account description? When I joined, I wrote I'm a water bender and I seem to be unable to change that. The character I created is a fire bender.
