In Search of a King

Mattias stood on a street corner, his face hidden behind his hood. It was early morning, and the sun had just started to come out. A light dew covered the ground. All around him, the denizens of the city started to come out and prepare for the day. Mattias saw all of this, and yet payed no attention to any of it. Instead he stared directly at where he saw a flash of robes. It was time for him to finally get to the bottom of this plot. He looked up towards the top of the city, where the base of the once standing stature of Ozai stood. He would find out who was behind this all.

A few minutes later he had arrived at the entrance to the palace. This was as far as the average citizen could reach. He debated his options. Stealth, or obviousness. For once he decided that his usual method wouldn't work. There was a time for subtly later. He pulled off his black cloak, and tossed it aside. He would get to the bottom of this, one way or another. His sword was clearly visible now, and on his tunic was the symbol of the White Lotus. It was time to get some answers. He began his walk into the palace.

The guards suddenly spotted a man attempting to just walk inside of the royal palace. The 4 guards looked at him sternly stepping side by side to block the large stone doors. One stepped forward saying "Halt. What is your business civilian?" The guard spoke gruffly and sternly as if his job was the most important in all of the city which it may be, maybe. He guards merely stared at him. They were trained to expect the unexpected.

Mattias stopped and placed his left hand on his sword, letting it hand there. It wasn't an action of challenge, but rather one of authority. He stared directly at the guard, drilling into his head with his eyes. He spoke with a loud and deep voice, "I have come to see your master!"

In the corner of his eyes, he watched the other three guards who stood at the ready. They were arrogant, but obviously had been well trained. Still, violence wasn't necessary. Not today at least.
